Paint in the Park is Blackpool Art Society’s annual Plein Air painting competition, held at Stanley Park, Blackpool. Artists from across Britain gather to create open-air artworks, which are later judged at the park’s visitor centre, where they may be exhibited or sold. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, 5th July 2025.

The Society’s art activities include practical sessions, workshops, lectures and exhibitions. Many of these activities involve the services of professional artists.
Weekly painting activities include portrait sessions, and life drawing, amongst others. The twice yearly syllabus issued to members outlines details of events.

Exhibition DatesBlackpool Art Society was originally formed in 1884 being one of the oldest Art Societies in Britain.
We have our own purpose built studio on Wilkinson Avenue which enables us to host a varied schedule of demonstrations talks and workshops throughout the year.
Your membership fee of only £55 plus a £5 joining fee includes all of the above activities with the exception of day workshops.
Twice yearly, as a member of Blackpool Art Society, you have the opportunity to exhibit and sell your work at external exhibitions held at Lytham Heritage Centre and Stanley Park Visitor Centre.
The day to day running of the Society is handled by a dedicated Committee of unpaid elected volunteers.
